R.O.V.

A remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) which moves in water controlled by a circuit board attached via umbilical cable.

The three motors allow the submersible to move forwards, backwards, turn to port or starboard, and dive or surface.

Here's an R.O.V. that's made it as far as the sub-Antarctic waters of South Georgia. (Click image for a larger view.)
